Believer's Baptism

Believer's baptism is for those who have trusted in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. We follow our Lord, who Himself was baptized (Mark 1:9-11), in obedience to His command.

The Bible says...

  • We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:4
  • The Greek word for baptism, baptizo, means to be immersed. Baptism is not something we do to wash away our sin. Our sin was washed away on Calvary's cross. Baptism is observed as a picture of the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We baptize by immersion, which is symbolic of our life before our salvation; when we are immersed, it is symbolic of the fact that we are dead to the old self, the old way of life; when we come up out of the water, it is symbolic of the new life we have in Jesus Christ.
