Believer's baptism is for those who have trusted in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. We follow our Lord, who Himself was baptized (Mark 1:9-11), in obedience to His command.
The Bible says...
The Greek word for baptism, baptizo, means to be immersed. Baptism is not something we do to wash away our sin- that was accomplished on Calvary's cross. Baptism is observed as a picture of the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We baptize by immersion, which is symbolic of our life before our salvation; when we are immersed, it is symbolic of the fact that we are dead to the old self, the old way of life; when we come up out of the water, it is symbolic of the new life we have in Jesus Christ.
